Steven "Shik" Adams

Steven Shik is an artist and illustrator living and working on the East Side of Detroit. His work filters his own experiences as a Korean Adoptee by exploring the notion of identity through cultural origins and expectations. The complex narrative of adoption creates an emotional disconnection that is explored through his use of recurring symbols such as vultures and metronomes to help illustrate the passage of time and shifting perspectives this creates.
